yeah, gloom all round - I suppose it was all too good to last. I did expect us to take it right to the wire before eliminating ourselves in traditional style. We were inept today, Georgia deserved to win.

Both England and Scotland will qualify.

England are a better side than Crotia and should beat them at Wembley. Russia used a plastic pitch to beat us.

I think the Scots will make it too.

ROTF's (do you HAVE a name !!) confidence prompted me to check the France score and they're 0-0 with Lithuania, with 15 or so mins to go.
Maybe we'll get the chance to blow it again after all.

Unfortunately, that alone won't be good enough, ROTF. We also need Israel, who have nothing to play for, to avoid defeat against Russia.

Can't believe Russia will win their last two games - no way do they deserve to qualify. I know Guus Hiddink works wonders with mediocre players, but ..... well, we'll see I guess.

Ian - one more win and you're there - you know the team that couldn't win in France, but did. You knew you wouldn't beat Georgia because you don't like to make life easy, but when it comes to playing the best then you'll play at your best and I think that'll do it.

Tell you what - let's reinstitute the Home Internationals. Looks like all the contenders will be available next summer.

very glad of the 3 pts on sunday BUT was less than impressed and thought we were very fortunate. sunderlands keeper must have broken a mirror in the dressing room then walked under a ladder on the way to the pitch !!

We certainly had a bit of luck, at least from what I saw on MOTD.
But then again, with so many probable 1st-teamers on the sick list (mostly the new signings!), I'll take a lucky 3 points & be grateful.
Cheers mate,
Matt.

One happy Big Grin Gooner Big Grin here 7-0 joint highest Champions League score ever. Can we keep this up? Though when Wenger gets it right he GETS IT RIGHT. Fantastic display of a maturing team.

Absolutely awesome display it galls me to say! I think this team could be playing even better football than the 'Invicibles'. But was that Alex Stepney in goal for Sparta?!!

Your almost off the bottom, Mark, another point and you'll be above Squawkers.
Posted on: 23 October 2007 by Chillkram
One point at a time, ROTF. One point at a time. If we win our game in hand we will be level on points with Preston.

Well done to QPR (gotta support the London teams, except Spurs of course).

So Chelsea score 6 United score 4 for the forth time in a row, should be a very interesting title race this year so long as Arsenal stuff the scousers tomorrow.

Please.........6-0!! I don't think Mark Crappenburg is 'looking after' them tomorrow so there's every chance of an Arsenal victory.

Mark I gather you're a City fan then, tough luck, you need to sort out your away form, methinks.

Well done QPR - great victory. Just remind me as I can't find a table who is squawking away the bottom of the Championship. Better not speak too soon as they'll probably turn us over.

However, good to see Rangers on the climb.

What a rare privilage it was to see Sir Bobby Charlton on Parkinson last night - I am going to buy his autobiography as a mark of respect for this great man.
Posted on: 28 October 2007 by Steve O
Acad, I was once fortunate enough to be at a charity dinner in the presence of some real football legends; Alan Ball, Bobby Robson, John Charles, Peter Lorimer, Eddie Gray, Jimmy Armfield, Bobby Charlton and Ron Atkinson to name but a few. Out of all those present only Bobby Charlton and Ron Atkinson refused to sign autographs. The pair were completely arrogant and refused my request in the most dismissive of ways, telling me to "go away please".
His brother Jack hates him and gives a black portrait of him in his autobiography, writing that Bobby Charlton did not even attend his own mothers funeral.
My brief encounter with him supports Jacks view. He is a horrible person.

Steve O.

Big Ron had an excuse - he'd have been embarrassed putting an X in the space for his name.
