L'Estro Armonico

I love charity shops - two days ago I picked up
On six sides of vinyl that seem to be totally pristine ( in a box with a different cover but from DGG).
This is lovely music. A box of Venezian delights by Antonio. 12 little concertii all quite short, between 8 and 10 minutes each, but beautifully formed and together called by him L'Estro Armonico which the book explains can be translated a little delicately as "The Harmonic Rapture".
I think anybody who loves Bach must also love Vivaldi and I think these are Antonio at his best. Old Johan thought so as well it seems since he transcribed six of these for keyboard.
They are not really played by the Berliner Philarmonic but rather a small string group, since they are all composed variously for 1 or 2 or 4 violins supported by violincello ( or double bass),cellos and Harpsichord. Beautifull stuff.
