Unitiqute/next step?

Posted by: bigsplice on 07 October 2010

Hi
Have recently purchased qute and very impressed i am too! Am looking at adding Unitiserve but wanted to canvass opinion on different direction. Currently qute is streaming from Iomega network drive which holds entire CD collection in FLAC format ripped via DBpoweramp.I also own a naim DAC and was thinking of different option.
Option 1: Add unitiserve to qute
Option 2: Qute to DAC to Nait xs
Speakers are the splendidly compatible and great sounding rega RS3's.
Regards

I would think option 2 would bring a lot more improvement than option 1 as you already have ripping (dbPowerAmp) and server (Iomega network drive) solutions. Another alternative would be to wait and test the NDX (when it's available) into Nait XS compared with Qute --> DAC --> Nait XS.

Hi Paul,

If you take the Option 2 (which I think is more logical than option 1, too) can you please post your results what's the improvement in the SQ? I have my qute connected to xs now and speculating with the DAC idea, too. I've tested qute stand-alone against qute+xs output and found little but hearable difference - IMO the xs adds some nice end at the bass side, going deeper vs. not so deep, but stronger bass from qute. The high end to my ears appears almost equal, but somehow the xs adds more rhythm and dynamic to the overall performance. Interesting to here what the DAC will add...

TIA,
Ilko

Guess there should be an option 3! Qute+ Poweramp!?
