Turntable "problem"

Posted by: solid state on 05 January 2004

Well , this is driving me nuts . Have recently taken delivery of an Origin Live Ultra Kit Classic - wonderful sounding DC powered turntable , running with a Modified Rega RB300 Arm and Super Elys Cartridge .

The problem is this- turntables running , sounding great and then another electrical item is switced on (kettle or fridge , Say) and I then get what seems to be a momentary loss of power to the deck which then slows down and then corrects itself .

As you can imagine this has disastrous effects on sound quality !

I have e-malied Origin Live who state "that it must be my power supply and I should try my deck round a mates house to see what happens"

Not bad advice granted and I plan to do this , but only my turntable is affected - no other items of hi-fi , and this problem did not affect any of my predecessor decks (all AC powered) .

I live in a new flat with new current standard wiring(and unless there IS a problem) this wiring could be considerd healthy .

Any thoughts or ideas guys - is the dc transformer especially sensitve to voltage drop or something ? can I get round this Frown

Regards to all .

What dreadfull customer support, i've never heard such tosh in my life. To automaticaly assume that there product is beond reproach and place the blame elswhere is beond belief.
Throw all your teddys out of the pram and insist on some service.

Hi Solid

Sounds like a correct diagnosis to me "that it must be my power supply” the one in the box not your mains, if yours is the freestanding type supply it would be quite easy to send it back which would be my first optution,I will say this I have dealt with OL on several occasions and would do again, good luck and let us know how you get on.
