Only one I have is Cheb Mami 'Meli Meli'. Fine in places but overall a mixed bag. Ends with several remixes including one horror with bagpipes from memory. Never bought another by the guy!
I've heard Cheb Kahled a few times, more authentic sound but never quite tickled my tastebuds. I'd start with him for 'real' Rai.

It ain't Raï, but I Like it!
Try 'Orchestre national de Barbes' there's a live recording that came out about 5 or 6 years ago. It's actually a fusion of magreb styles including Raï.
To my ears one of the problems with Raï is the europop tendance in the orchestrations, otherwise I love the voices.
You can try Natacha Atlas too, she can be quite alluring. Rachid Taha is one I like, try the 'live' recording although I believe 'made in medin' is considered better, I haven't heard it tho'.
