Naked Snaxos

Posted by: Naheed on 18 July 2002

I've seen a few pictures where people ten to leave the snaxo cover off, and recall someone mentioning a sonic benefit, the same i comment was also made regarding the napsc.

Anyone heard of this - doing this ?

Yes - I've heard that there is a sonic benefit from leaving the cover off, and while I had an active set-up I had the cover off most of the time, although I can't say I noticed that much difference when I put it back on.

The advantage of leaving the cover off for me was the ease of making adjustments to the settings. Once I had those sorted out, I put the cover back on ... and couldn't really hear a detrimental effect on the sound, so I left it on.

Hi Naheed,

I leave the cover off my SNAXO & have noticed a big difference in doing this. I didn't know that it was a 'tweak'. I spent a couple of days sorting out the settings for my IBL's, was happy with the sound & put the case back on. The sound became very congested & shut in by comparison, much less air around the instruments & vocals & also a subjective fall off of the higher frequencies, cymbals had less shimmer.

I wish to my ears it would sound the same with the case on as it looks a bit of a mess & collects dust. Please forgive for asking but you do put the rubber feet back on when listening 'naked' ?

Hi Bob

I have'nt removed the cover yet, but i'd assume the rubber feet should stay on
