Massive Attack - Collection on vinyl

Is it me, or has this triple set got just about the deepest, fullest bass I've heard on a recording? In the context of MA it works great, but it does make my living room sound like a Citroen Saxo with skirts on it and blue LEDs underneath.

No it is not just you. I can't listen to 'Protection', I find the bass unpleasant now I have a Naim system.
It sounds as though it was mixed for a cheap transistor radio, or possibly by someone very stoned .....
Orbital 'Snivilisation' is a bit heavy on the bass too, thankfully their other albums are spot on.

Well there is plenty of good bass stff out there which IMO puts massive attack back down there.

Yes,
The bass is extreme on this album! Karma Coma is particularly window-rattling. I found the album difficult to listen to until I added a flatcap 2X to my system driving my pre-amp and Stageline. It now sounds a bit more controlled - but I do agree with JamieL here that it sounds as if it was mixed by someone under the influence of recreational substances.
