Help! has anyone ever heard of the NA 729/1 Time aligned input buffer boards?

Hi everyone,
I want to buy a second hand NAC32.5 and someone just told me that some of them are fitted with the NA729/1 boards. Has anyone ever heard of them? What are the sonic benefits? Will I be loosing too much if I use a NAC32.5 without them? Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Andrew,
Thank you so much for your help. I guess I will purchase my 32.5 without the boards and upgrade it at a later time. Do you have any idea of how much these boards cost? Do Naim install them or can we do it ourselves?

They cost (I think) around £100. They are self-fittable, though if you buy them from a dealer, I'm sure they'd pop them in for you - it's a 5 minute job.

Hi Andy,
in these 2 days, i've listen to my system:
nac72-hicap-140-proac 1.5, with and without 729 boards.
My impression:
without 729 very mutch larger and beutifull stage, deeper too but not as larger, little less clarity in the mid-hi and voices (in the voices are the most different things that i listen) for the rest very similar, with 729 the stage go from the left-right speaker and hardly goes mutch larger :-(; in the past, with proac 1s (ministand), the stage was much larger and i think the difference will be less.
i prefere nac 72 without 729, may be my pre need recap...
one thing: 729 boards can still live in 324 side?

I went from a 102 to a 32.5, the 102 is for sure far better than the 32.5 (and the 102 is better than the 72 that I had before) but I was amazed by the improvement of bass with the 32.5 compared to the 102 (speakers IBL).

I take it that you like wooly, muddled bass.

Hi Mike,
Somehow it seems to me that to love Naim goes with hate off bass?
I think the bass is ok, there are weaknesses in other areas, especially with the clarity of the sound and the tonal balance of the 32.5 compare to the 102 and the 72.
