The same man has received the most votes year after year. He is an angler but the BBC won't let him win.
And who, pray, is this person?

Bob Nudd 1991 got most 'democratic' votes but disqualified
then
2005 Peter Crouch likewise.
As I said selectively democratic.

I'm interested - is there any actual proof for this? Why were Nudd and Crouch disqualified?

I always think that most polls/phone-ins etc tell you more about the voter than the canditate.
As far as D.Clark is concerned, I think thats a fair point, but he won a tournament as part of a team not an individual (human, not equine), & the award goes to an individual (human).
Lets face it, after the year british sport has endured, we are pretty much struggling to find anyone (of a mainstream sport) thats done anything really worthy. Hence the inclusion of sportsmen/women from relatively minor (in viewing audience terms) sports.

Is it reasonable to take even BBC TV seriously? I gave up television after the second series of Big Brother! It is all propoganda to dull the senses of the masses. To see a decent program require hours of patience!
Speech Radio has nothing like the problems, because it is a truly minority interest, and therefore has not been knobbled by the propgandist politicians as the audiance makes no difference any way...

It need not take too much time.We have a Sky+ box programme it with the shows we WANT to see, record them and watch perhaps 2 hours a day. Listen to music for some of the rest of the time. If I need extra TV I ususlly manage to find some thing amongst the documentary section to fill a space.

Think the listeners to Terry Wogans show got it right when they said that Jennifer Saunders won The BBC Sports Personality of the Year. It was a poor year for Sport.

Dear Howard,
The pedant in me says that I should have spelled program as programme! Oh dear!
But to get Sky you first have to buy a BBC TV licence and then make a further subscription - the whole thing seems to be rather expensive to me...
It is legal to receive BBC Radio entirely free, which shows how much value the propgandists put on it! It cannot be any good unless you have to pay good money for it!
In a good humour tonight! Fredrik

Cannibalistic tendencies, Geoff?
Is that what living "almost under water" does to you?

"Vive La Republic!" NOT! Can you imagine how much use Blair junior would be? Called Ewan, or something along those lines, is he not?
Or even Mark Thatcher! Yikes, I am emigrating, and even Russia sounds more fun!
Not good night, somehow, here in Saint Johns, but all the best to you from Fredrik

What is that supposed to mean. I doubt if you've ever met the boy, but he is doing o.k. actually, so why make ridiculous uninformed critisms?
