Last week's episode was really dire; a more-or-less straight rip-off of the plot of Donna Tartt's The Secret History. Yesterday's episode wasn't quite so bad, but somewhat implausibly featured Gina McKee (born 1961) as an ex-schoolfriend ('she was in the 5th form, I was in the 6th form') of Kevin Whately (born 1951).
I don't think I'll bother tuning in next week.

I thought the plots of both episodes were weak, but that is i suppose in comparison to the Morse programmes, where it has to be said, Colin Dexter's books were very accomplished. Lewis's assistant I thought stole the show on both occasions, although Kevin Whately's Morse like limp, visible on occasions, was a nice touch.

Joe
Wasn't it rather more implausible that the Whately character didn't try to sh*g the Gina character? This tough love was surely what the widow needed.
She sure as shit wouldn't have been off-limits if she'd stayed chez moi.
Oh, and didn't Oxford look wonderful?

That was also unbelievable!
Oxford did look wonderful. I stayed there just before Christmas, and intend doing so again when the weather improves a bit!

Oxford and cars just don't mix: the one-way system that chucks you out onto the ring road is notorious.
But bicycles are fine, and I couldn't have afforded a car anyway when I was there some 30 years ago!
