What did everyone think? I thought it was great!

"Oh my god I'm a chav" when Cassandra saw her new body in the mirror. Great fun and I think Ms Piper is developing into a very accomplished actress.

She combined writhing about while soaking wet with multiple hair flicks and yet still somehow managed to look rather happy as she was and truly blown completely dry. Accomplished enough for me.

She can blow me completely dry any time that she chooses.

Yes - an excellent kick off to the new series.

I'm sorry I missed the last series. I only saw the second half of the very last one and I was very surprised by it's high production value and some very Buddhist type observations. I missed the first installment of this new series too, I must remember to give it a look next week. I'm not sure miss Piper appeals too much to me, I would prefer to see Anna Friel in the role.

Isn't it great to have something worth watching for a change. Brilliant.

Erik, reserve judgment until you've seen her performance. I started out wondering what an apparently talentless minor teenie popstar was doing on Doctor Who but she quickly won me over, and I'm as cynical as they come.

LOL - OK Tom, I will give Miss Piper a go.

"...it's like living in a bouncy castle".

Definately the best line in the whole episode.

I have re-watched the previous series in the last week, and ended slightly disappointed after this new episode. The ending seemed pretty crap.

***Warning - plot spoiler*** [Don't read if you intend to watch this episode later]

The people in the pods were supposed to help find cures for (thousands of?) incurable diseases.

So the Doctor takes a dozen "cures" and completely cures everyone?

And this was a Russell T Davies episode.

Oh well. Better next time, I hope.

cheers, Martin

C'mon Martin, it's an episode of Dr Who for chrissakes, what plot is not going to have the old hole in it, eh - lol!

FWIW I did enjoy the series opener, and agree that Billie Piper was ahem...very watchable, as much for her acting ability as anything else!

I wish David Tennant had stuck to his own (Scottish) accent though - his attempts at Cockney (Mockney?) are wearing a bit thin already.

Cheers,

Jon

I liked the last series, but this was really poor. Terrible puns, over acting, cliche ridden plot which didn't even make sense in it's own universe, terrible CGI (It costs about the same per episode as Battlestar Galactica, apparently- what is that spent on?), truly horrendous music and dayglow lighting.

David Tennant is 'old school' Dr Who, somewhere between McCoy and Baker. I thought the Christmas one was quite good, but this was kiddies TV with 'bits' for the dads IMHO.

I really hope it gets better.
