Does anyone have any interesting linkd to more information about his guy / the story? I know that he was considered part of the US's front in the cold war (I think they used to subsidise his matches against Russian chess masters) but can't understand why his existance is of any concern to them anymore, so would be grateful to anyone who can expand on the story a bit.

Being rather old I can remember the 70s when the matches between
Bobby &
Boris filled not only the TV news but were reported at length in the quality Sunday press. This was a war between the forces of good and evil fought by proxies in far off Iceland although now days it is rather hard to recreate or even convey the paranoia and fear associated with the
Cold War.
