One Box Please

Posted by: Chris Bell on 28 October 2010

I've been demoing a used N-Vi the past couple of days and it struck me that what I really need is a one-box Naim home theater solution w/o video. The DVD player on the N-Vi, while very good, is superfluous in the face of Blu-Ray, Apple TV, HD Cable, etc.

I'd like this one-box to sound better than the N-Vi (I found this out by comparing it to my Nait5i) and it should also have an ethernet connection for streaming music. I think this would be a great product... I want my home theater to sound good, but I am really not interested in anything complicated, or requiring multiple boxes.

Thoughts?

I think most people here are waiting for an AV3. There seemed to be some hope on another thread but it has now been locked which may indicate an indirect answer - hopefully not.

I would be very interested in buying an updated N-vi, I see no reason why not especially with all the success in the Uniti range (revolution maybe started by the N-vi) which just shows how many people out there (and new to Naim) want and would pay for a top quality all in one.

Yes please;

High def audio
High def video scaler
Blu ray drive instead of the dvd drive
Streaming
Room EQ (auto and manual)
XS level amps for front L+R+C existing for rears unless they can fit all round

I did hear that an updated model is on its way the new SuperN-vi which is housed in the NAP500 series case. It has all video, streaming and dac facilities on one side and 5 NAP200's on the other taking advantage of its heat fins so its a fanless design. Expandable to 7.1. Add Naim amps of your choice for front L+R or integrate into existing stereo system. Naim tuned Room EQ and everything else you can wish for.

Please do not pinch me, I like where I am. They do say its greener on the other side especially when its Naim green.

I do hope we get something.
