high def projector or standard def?

Posted by: Flame on 07 February 2008

Hi guys;

I'm in the market for a projector but my budget won't extend to a high def unit. Out of the standard definition projectors I see that some of them support resolutions of 1280 X 1024. I know that this is not the standard 1080 or 720, but it does provide a pixel count somewhere between the two. Does that make it capable of providing high def. images?

Thank you.

You need a cheap 720p projector with hdmi or dvi input Flame.

Why pay extra for the 304 vertical lines that you will not use? There are plenty of inexpensive 720p projectors out there that should fit the bill, from Optoma, InFocus, etc.

I've searched around the net. It looks like the Optoma HD70 will be the projector of choice.funy enough, my Naim dealer also sells Optoma. Will talk to him tomorrow and see what price he can offer.
