One of my friends has a pair. He runs them with my old Xerxes / RB 300 into a 32.5 / Hicap / 140, so all stuff I am very familiar with. The Darius come across as
very bright, though very tight, punchy and controlled. He has them very toed in, so the tweeters aim at a spot quite a way in front of the listener, this seems to be the way they were usually used. From what I have heard they are nearly a fabulous speaker, its just the extreme brightness that puts me off, and as I have not set them up myself I have no idea whether this can be tamed. They certainly can play music, and have a real solid kick to them at the bottom end (they are a nice big infinite baffle design, and you can really tell). This pair of Darius are quite early black ones with the bizarre skeletal stand and external crossovers, my friend paid 250 quid for them, which has to be a real bargain.
I would be interested in how you like them, from my perspective they certainly have much more scale and punch than I have ever heard from Kans, but in the system in question they just lack the treble refinement and driver integration I am used to from my own Kan IIs.
Tony.
