What do you WISH you were listening to right now?
Posted by: worm on 20 July 2007
Stuck in the office on a Friday afternoon with no music I can't participate in the 'What are you listening to...' thread.
Best I can manage is what would I like to be listening to right now.
My starter for 10 is:
Cheers
worm
PS no gloating from those who are already at home (or who never left) and on their third glass of red

Anything other than the sound of several colleagues arguing the merits of various versions of the Volvo estate. If I had to chooose, something sung by Emma Kirkby to soothe the savage brow.

My boss saying 'Ian, take the rest of the day off...'

Chris,
For all those Volvo "lovers" out there.

My boss sayin': "Goodbye, i'm leaving forever".
With a Naim set reproducing Vivaldi's Primavera in the background.

The new re-mastered CD version of The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn, but I'll have to wait.

Pass, it is just up the road at Defford Bridge, where the river is just a stream 6 foot under the bridge. There are more pictures on the BBC Hereford and Worcester web site.

A pint of Gales HSB (pre Fullers, of course) being pulled in the Basketmakers Arms, Brighton (post smoking ban, of course).

I can do that for you Scott, but it'll have to be the Fullers version of HSB. It isn't all that bad to be honest. Where do you want me to sit? I work about 13 minutes walk away, so it won't put me out at all. Of course, the pre Fullers and post smoking ban requirement is a contradiction.

'Hmmm one more time big boy' whispered in my ear by a naked Monica Belluci.

Thanks Rasher - you lucky sod. The contradiction is because it is a "wish" as requested by the OP :-)
I had a pint or 2 when I was over last July and it didn't taste quite how I remembered it - not so ... "fruity" ??. It was 3 years since my previous pint so I'll accept that the mind does strange things over time to the taste buds. I suspect I require a refresher course. Next year ...
Actually I got seriously into some of the Harvey's ales from Lewes last year - very nice.
Cheers

Aaaah, the Basketmakers! Spent many a happy Saturday evening there, between seeing the game at the Goldstone and heading into town for some live music at the Alhambra. Those were the daze.
p.s. HSB isn't as good as it used to be (tm Commisioner Gordon). HSB used to have an o.g of 1051.5 and was about 5.1% abv, it was reduced to 4.8% several years ago (pre-Fullers) to reduce the amount of duty Gales had to pay. Several pints of that, finished off with a bottle of Prize Old (half pint corked bottle of course) would be enough for most people.
p.p.s. 13 minutes walk Rasher? Seems a bit precise!
p.p.p.s. Back on topic...The roar from the north stand when the Seagulls have scored their first goal at the new stadium!

Will that drown out the "NIMBYS" saying how it will disrupt the village life etc etc.
Did they all moan when the University was planned?
Life seems to have continued all the same.

I'm just around the corner.
Scott, next time you're over I'll buy you a pint there.
Seagull, The Alhambra!!!

Wot band were you in? Maybe I even saw you play there!
Though I probably wouldn't remember, what with all the 5.1% HSB from the Basketmakers sloshing about inside
