That's pretty good. My kids love hard boiled eggs for breakfast with mayo and black pepper, but I've got a bad cold at the moment so they'll just need the pepper

Surely, peeling an egg's women's work?

I actually had some hard boiled eggs on toast for breakfast today and it took me ages peeling the damn thing as always does. Which also includes me peeling off way too much shell because of my impatience and therefore ending up with the yolk leaking out of the thing

True Jim, but perhaps our cook is a woman. I don't involve myself in the hiring of our domestic staff.

How can it be a hard-boiled egg if it's got yolk running out of it?
You! Yes, you! Stand still while I'm talking to you...!!

No, producing an egg is women's work.

My fool proof hard boiled method: submerge egg in water in uncovered pot, cook on high until boiling, remove from heat and cover pot for 10 minutes, replace hot water with cold water, peel egg under running cold water.
All best,
Fred

Well Ha bloody Ha!
After telling my wife about this great new method, she said "go on then, prove it. I'll hard boil you an egg, lets see if it works!"
So 10 mins or so later, the time came. I peeled off a bit from both ends as per the video, & blew. The whole lot came splashing out, all over the place, the wife laughing he socks off. She'd purposely only boiled it for 3 or 4 mins!
Now I know where the "egg on your face" expression comes from.
Matt.

Interesting. Have you read Tim Ferriss' "The 4-Hour Work Week"?

Nice hens Tony; what type are they?
We have two Black Rocks.
For those that have been unable to master egg peeling,
why not try this for perfect poaching?

One's a Black Rock, the one I'm holding's a Babcock and the best layer of the two.
Two eggs a day at the moment! I just wish the little b*ggers wouldn't dig up the new plants...

We let our hens free range when they arrived Dec '07,
but when spring came they started causing too much damage,
so we built this enclosure which runs the length of the old byre.
I guess a 'Grow/Rear Your Own' thread might do well here ...
