Bird box camera
Posted by: count.d on 15 May 2009
Five years ago I made a couple of bird boxes and installed a b&w camera in each. The cameras are linked to our TV and provide live footage to one of our channels. Each year since, we've had blue tits nesting in spring and they use them for winter shelter.
This year she laid 7 eggs, but only 6 hatched. Three weeks on and only 3 chicks survive.
I've just had delivery of some live mealworms and within 5 minutes of me putting them out in the garden, the blue tit found them and has been feeding the chicks. So clever. I wish I'd bought them earlier.
Makes great TV!
