When I visited
www.zetex.com, supplier of transistors, I realised that some types used in the Naim preamps, like ZTX384, are marked obsolete from end of March 2001 on the site
http://www.zetex.com/s46.shtm.
Did I mix some things, if not, then I am asking, what is Naim going to do ?

Paul -
The language may not be quite right, but if the transistors are marked "Obsolete" rather than just "Discontinuted", then perhaps the manufacturer has what they feel is a better version of the component. If so, would Naim try the new one and then decide whether to use the new one or stockpile the old one?
Just curious...

"Naim try the new one and then decide whether to use the new one or stockpile the old one?"
This unfortunatley is almost a monthly occurence. We spend a large amount of our R&D time looking for replacement components. We have a most endangered list!
We would always try to find a replacement but if not or until we can find an alternative or a re-design solution, we buy, in some cases five years or more stock! (doen't look very good on the balance sheet)
