hi guys,

i want to buy a set of new cordless phones for the home to replace the current set we have which is BT SYNERGY which quite frankly been disappointing....thinking of 2 upstairs and 2 downstairs. any recommendations ? they must have LOUD ringtones and maybe an answermachine base would be good.

Have some iDect ones, not sure where they're from, a supermarket I think, but they work fine, have an answering machine and you can buy the additional handsets.

Hi mate,
I've never found any digital/cordless phones with a decent & loud ring tone. I got around this problem by getting an old bakelite antique phone, with a real bell type ring on it, & plugged it into a spare phone socket in the lounge. Its on the lounge window sill if you can remember my room. Most of the time, I can hear the phone ringing!
From our experience, steer clear of cheap brand phones, binatone, etc, & go for a name brand. Panasonic ones look OK, & the look/style may be important to you & the missus.
Fingers crossed we can get one over Sparky's lot on the weekend, but it'll be tough, I think.
Cheers,
Matt.

Hi there,

Had some old Siemens DECT ones, black and white small LCD and they broke, so bought some of the Philips colour DECT ones. Sound quality was awful one them.

Thinking of going for some of the new Siemens Gigasets, which look very nice.

I use a Panasonic - took a long time to find one not made in China, but it was worth the search; definitely the best cordless I've used.

Yes we've just bought Panasonic too, cost around £80 for two. They look good, are plenty loud enough, have an answering machine base and are dead easy to set up. They are excellent, but I've no idea whether or not they're Chinese!

We had a duo pack of Panny cordless phones before and they were very good. We got rid as we needed a quad pack (ended up with BT ones) but would definitely use them again.
