Sorry I'm late posting but been listening rather than surfing since Christmas.
Pink Floyd : Saucerful of Secrets, Atom Heart Mother, Meddle, Obscured By Clouds, Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here, The Wall.
Fairport Convention: Unhalfbricking, Liege and Lief.
Janis Ian: Below The Line.
King Crimson: Court Of The Crimson King (on vinyl).
Still to listen to half of them - oh goody!

On vinyl: Zero 7 & Freeform Five
On CD: Jill Scott - The Real Thing
The disaster: My girlfriend had dropped the hint back in October that she was getting me the latest Radiohead box relesae - this so I wouldn't go online to order it myself. I'd deliberately not listened to In Rainbows on MP3 as I wanted to spin the vinyl first. Come Xmas day I was easgerly trying to see which of the presents it could be but nothing seemed the right shape or size. When I did finally get it, the pacakge was tiny - surely some mistake!! You bet, she'd bought the wrong one! It was the memory stick holding all of the EMI albums!! Aaaargh!!! I could barely disguise my disappointment. Counselling begins this week...

Scotty,
Don't know about sound quality yet, taking my Hi-Cap to Rayleigh Hi-Fi (Chelmsford) tomorrow for repair. Packaging superb as you would expect. Battersea Power Station looking moody & magnificent

Still First In Space
Check your copy though, as there have been some problems highlighted here by this Brain Damage article.

Sorry about the late entry but I'm still going through my Xmas pressies which were in no particular order...
XTC - Drums and Wires
Blackfield - Blackfield
Blackfield - Blackfield II
Hi Seagull
I'd be interested in your opinion of the Blackfield albums. A band worth seeing and if not buy the superb DVD Blackfield - Live In New York City . I'm seeing Aviv Geffen at Bush Hall - 31 Jan (Guests; Mike Garson & Steven Wilson)
I'd also be interested in your XTC gift.

I was (am) a big fan of Magazine but lost track of Mr Adamson after that. I had seen his work being described as 'Filmic', very apt I think. Mrs S gave me THAT look when the "Fantasy Bond Theme" came on asked why I was listening to the James Bond theme.
Nick Drake. I've read a lot about on this forum, decided to dip my toes in the water with this one. Bryter Layter and Pink Moon are now on my wanted list.
Bill Nelson has been increasing featured in my listening sessions, This was an album I had aeons ago (on tape I think it was so I'm guilty of killing music!) only just got round to adding it legitimately to my collection.
Denis
I like the Blackfield CDs a lot, a bit PT lite in places but some excellent tunes (I suspect that the recent PT albums will get more play time over the next few years though - Fear of a Blank Planet is on the deck as I type this). Not being quite as good as Porcupine Tree is praise indeed though.
I had always dismissed XTC as a smart-arsed singles band (I've got several of their very excellent pop 7"s in my collection). I was, of course, wrong. This is a very good album which just happens to have one of those 'smart-arsed' singles on it which makes me smile every time I meet any of my friends known as 'Nigel'.
As an aside, I also rejected Talk Talk as a fairly naff 80's pop band (WRONG, WRONG, WRONG!!!) and Japan as a slightly less commercial version of Duran Duran - WRONG again!!!!
