Hiya,
If you could just have one hi-fi magazine subscription what would it be and why ?

A bit too high brow for me, I am still at the Beano and Dandy level ( and for those that remember "Topper" )

My one & only subscription to a hifi rag is HiFi World. It has a good vinyl section in it & reviews a reasonable price range of stuff (for me), ie not all budget stuff & not all ultra high end gear.
Like most hobby orientated mags, I don't use them as a bible. They are mild entertainment & kill a couple of hours when I'm abroad or on a plane.
Matt.

Nah, it's all shiny, tears too easily, not very soft and the ink comes off...

I hate to admit it, but I have bought What hifi twice in the last 10 years or so... but only to get some idea about what home cinema stuff is around.
It's a strange experience reading it though. I feel as though I could change the date on the cover and the names of the components reviewed, but leave the descriptions alone. It would be the same read. Mmm. Being a What Hifi reviewer must be a strange job to own up to at a party.

Hi Fi Critic. Longer on words, shorter on pictures & as independent a POV as you're likely to find in a magazine.

I've always thought Hi-Fi Choice was quite balanced and sane in its reviews, if a little dull and "po-faced". When I used to buy hi-fi mags regularly, many years ago, it was always Hi-Fi Answers. Sometimes wacky in its advice and reviews it was always nevertheless a highly entertaining read and whiled away many happy hours! I never buy hi-fi mags now. Unless you're in the trade what's the point of reading about how x and y sound compared to z? Who cares!
