Rega 'Ara' on Nait-2
Posted by: Alco on 29 December 2002
Hi guys,
As some of ya may know, I'm still haunting for some suitable speakers for my little ol' Nait-2.
Now, last week I got me a Rega brochure.
I think I'll try the Rega Ara next weekend.
Studying the specs they seem to be a very suitable partner for my needs:
1. They are easy to drive!
2. Have a paper woofer (which I've always prefered to the usual polypropyleen woofers)
3. Seem to have a tight fast bass, without the usual boost/overhang commonly found on budget reflex ported speakers.
4. They're not fussy about placement.
5. They have quite a simple cross-over.
6. Imho, they look georgous, especially in cherry!
7. And last but not least, they're Cheap
I spoke to a friend recently. He also uses a Nait-2. He tried the Ara's at home, and said he didn't like them, because they were soundig to bright for his liking, bass light and not open enough.
On the other hand, he was listening to the Ara's in another (way bigger!) room, with another source (Harman-Kardon CD760) and other cable,
so.... I think it's time to judge for myself!
Has anybody heard the Rega Ara on the end of a Naim amp recently ?
