Poor Packaging

Posted by: Officer DBL on 24 November 2007

The CD version of Long Road out of Eden turned up this morning. I am very disappointed with the cheap and shoddy packaging the CDs have been supplied in; the card has already been ripped when trying to get one of the CDs out. It looks more like a car boot sale rip off than a professionally produced article. I just hope the music makes up for the packaging.

Hi Howard,

I bought it from Play.com

I've not had any problems with them. Was the out side packaging damaged? Or was it the CD case ? I'm assuming it's not a crystal case, one of these new "green" packages perhaps?
If the inner was already damaged when you opened it then may be it was a return,e-mail them to see what they will do.
I'm not a fan of any of the paper sleeve type cases it seems a recipe for scratches IMO.

The issue I have is with the poor quality of the digipac in the first place. Play have done nothing wrong; the choice of the record company/artist to go "green" is resulting in a poorly presented product.

I thought that's what you were saying. I have to agree, may be "green" at source but if you have to transfer the CD to a plastic case for longevity not much saving there methinks.
Contacting the manufacturer or in the case of transportation damage the courier/supplier is a must. Hopefully if enough people complain then maybe ..... on second thoughts its probably a waste of time 'cos they (big business) know best.

The new Led Zepp Mothership three disc set case is very bad IMO.
