...the amps. Once you've gotten used to the speed of naim amps, most other amps sound sluggish, regardless of price.

In terms of digital sources, there are fewer manufacturers who can really cut it in comparison with manufacturers of amplifiers, and certainly speakers, imho.
Naim amps were/are renowned for their speed and involvement, and are what made the company famous in the days of collaboration wih Linn.
However, for me, the source is where it is at - a fast amp won't speed up a woolly, uninvolving CD player.
Moreover, there are other manufacturers of amplifiers these days that can compete with Naim for those "flat earth" virtues outlined above, although Naim is virtually unchallenged where CD players are concerned.
Yes, we have the Rega Jupiter, the Densen B400XS, the Resolution Audio CD55, or even the Linn Ikemi, but are these serious competition?
