I can’t remember any previous recommendations for her on the forum.
If you like Patty Larkin or Shawn Colvin,(or even Sheryl Crow) then it may be worth having a listen to this singer-songwriter.
I first heard her on Radio 4 & I’ve just got ‘Truth From Lies’ and ‘My Shirt Looks Good on You’. Both excellent (so far, I think that I prefer the former).
I also bought a couple of Ani Difranco albums (‘Imperfectly’, and ‘Out of Range’) Fantastic (I’d heard and loved some others like Up Up Up, but these are the first I’ve bought. Any other suggestions?)
Regards,
Will.

Hi Will,
I'm not always in the mood for Ani's music, but she is seriously talented - both as a songwriter, a singer and a guitarist (oh wait, that's three things).
Try "Little Plastic Castles", which I think is one of her best. A very consistent album.

She has also done two collaborations with folk singer U. Utah Phillips, taking over 100 hours of spoken word portions of his concerts (and none of the actual folk songs) and setting them to some excellent trip-hop. "The Past didn't Go Anywhere" is highly recommended, unless you're just looking for her singing (can't fault anyone for that), which you won't find in these works.
Cheers
Keith.

My fav's are "A crash course in roses" absolutely LOVE track 9 titled "Roses" and track 7 " I'll cover you". This album was done by the same people than have produced for the E street band.
Great album with some killer tracks.
Also check out here self titled album also absolutely a killer. I bought her latest i.e. "My shirt sure looks good" well recorded, but found it musically nothing especially compared to "A Crash Course" and her self titled she's starting to sound a bit like a Jennifer Warnes wannabe.
Check out the two I've recommended...good listening.
