Help! Punk knowledge needed!! Please read or I'll go nuts!

Posted by: domfjbrown on 09 April 2003

Can anyone tell me WHO did the below lyrics, and from WHAT song - I don't know the answer but there's a lot of knowledge here!

It's a punk track - early 80s (kind of sounds like DOA or The Exploited but it's neither (I think)):

"Cos living is a cliche
it's all been done before
death is the only thing
we've got left to live for...
...life is cheap
but death is free!
Die die die
come die with me...
...don't wanna be cremated
or buried in a grave
just dump me in a plastic bag
and leave me on the pavement
a tribute to your modern world
your great society
I'm just another victim
of your highrise fantasy!"

If anyone knows I'd love to - had this song on tape for a decade and no-one knows who it is - including the guy I copied it from - and he's the most knowledgeable punk I know!

Well I don't give a damn I don't fucking care
I'm going kill my Mum and Dad and pull out my hair
I'm gonna steal a motor car and smash it all to pieces
I'm gonna cut your liver out and pin it on yuor faces

And the classis couplet "Council estate filled with hate / Going end it now before its too late"

Albertos!

Blimey, this brings back memories - I saw them live and bought the singles & LPs.

The 'Council Estate' line still has resonance.

Even now, whenever I end a sentence "... Council Estate", the Wife chips in (on cue) ... "filled with hate"

Ah Matthew, if only this were true!

Whilst I given a reasonably free reign in terms of cluttering nearly every room in the house with records and gear etc. I do have other constraints.

Whilst the Wife is in attendance I am 'banned' from playing "horrible" (Sic) music such as Hanatashari, Merzbow, Current 93, Neubaten, Non, TG, even Earth / Sunn O))))). Also Drum and Bass brings on a headache she claims.

However I have managed to get her into hardcore bouncy techno, modern systems classical and a fair amount of jazz (not free jazz) and general guitar based rock.

So on balance, I am a lucky sod I suppose.

You are indeed a lucky sod - women and music don't match in my experience, which is one of the reasons (aside from being skint, ugly and lazy!) I'm still single...

I know of a few women who ARE into music though - they're too cool to be gone out with then broken up from though Smile

Well Glenda, still waiting for mateyboy in the states to give me a shipping cost - will keep you posted if the deal doesn't happen...

Yeah - Kill has some of the funniest lyrics ever - I've not heard the b-side of the EP though as the tape I copied the tracks off of only had Kill and Gobbing on life on - considering a punk made my mate the tape I copied from, the sound quality was pretty good. Most punks don't seem to care about sound Smile

Aaah, the Albertos, saw them live supported by some unknown trio called The Police, I wonder what happened to them?

Seagull

I must have seen the same tour!

I have got the first single by the Police (on Criminal records I think) They all look very 'credible' on the cover. I don't think Stink want's to know about that now.
