NFL - American Football 2010

OK it is the off-season, but after last year's thread on the NFL, I thought it worth starting early, especially as there are a couple of big bits of news from the NFL, and some whining by me about The Broncos.

Firstly, Donovan McNabb has been traded by The Eagles to The Redskins, wow! IS he washed up, or have The Redskins made a steal, and who will be starting for The Eagles this year?

Secondly Ben Rothlisberger has not been charged with sexual assault, but the way it was announced made it seem like the only reason was lack of evidence, and not lack of guilt. He was called to meet with the commissioner Roger Goodell yesterday.

Also the Broncos have traded Brandon Marshall to The Dolphins, so Josh McDaniels continues to lose talented players from the offense, and that six game winning start to last season is a very long time ago now.

My quick views on the three stories, McNabb is past it, and always was a good, but not great quarterback. Rothlisberger will get suspended for a few games, but Pittsburgh are not the kind of team to keep a player who it looks like has been involved in such an assault. Josh McDaniels will start his second and last season as coach of The Broncos, and will be worse than last year, the players will demand that he is kicked out by the end of the season.

What does anyone else think?

You're out of the gates very early, I'm following some of the stories - the Steelers are causing some noise not just because of Big Ben but as well by getting rid of Holmes.

Dolphins went to market early - I like it. Smile

Big day for the Broncos in the draft, Tim Tebow QB, is indeed a 1st round pick, as well as Demaryius Thomas WR. Daniels has gone for character, and assumes that technique can be fine tuned. Interesting.

Dallas took Dez Bryant WR a couple of picks after Denver, technically a better receiver than Thomas, but a questionable character. Dallas does seem a good fit for him though.

Sam Bradford QB goes No1 to The Rams, no surprise there. The other picks on www.nfl.com

How did I miss the draft??? Confused

Having watched the NFL Today on Sky, and also clips on www.nfl.com, I start to wonder if Jamie Dukes has ever said anything worth listening to.

Again and again, he just says that 'this guy, or team is a winner so they know how to win', and any player or team that has not won before does not know how to do it.

How come The Saints won the Superbowl if they had never done that before? Sometimes team and players develop.

On the draft coverage he is worse, as he had nothing to say that isn't just repeating what happened to team last year.

I just hope in the UK we get Mike Carlson to talk some sense about the game in the next season.

Glad there are some NFL fans here...

McNabb to Washington is a good move (and they just traded their old QB to the Raiders, I think he had potential), and they now have a better coach, but some experts are already saying they had a bad draft. We shall see, but McNabb will make them better regardless assuming he doesn't get injured.

I hope they don't do well, though, because I am a Cowboy fan. Looks like they had a decent draft (glad they got a good wide receiver being groomed by Primetime and Michael Irvin).

Can't wait until Football season starts again, and for the soccer folks out there I can't wait for the World Cup either. The US will probably lose in the first round again early as usual, but I bet it will be fun to watch none the less.
