i presume you're using iTunes? Right click each song click something like "edit properties" and type in the name of the song.
Don't think there's any prog that'll automatically name them for u once ripped as most use CDDB or FreeDB and this generates the info from the individual code of the cd inserted into your PC for ripping against a database.

I am not sure that the above is true as I have ripped CDs w/o an internet connection and identified the album, through the properties.
Later when highlighting all the tracks I have got the track names from the Advanced tab, get CD track names. This only seems to work if you select an entire album, i.e. it won't work for single tracks. The key will be whether you can identify all the tracks from an album.
The way iTunes stores tunes, you may be able to do this from your song library via the Finder (if you use a Mac) and view, arrange by date modified. This will list the tracks by the date, time they were saved. Thus, you should have files sequencing track 1, 2 ... last track and then starting track 1a, 2a ... (or something similar as you won't be able to have multiple files with the same name in a single folder).
I don't think there is an easy fix and you will have to do this via the iTunes library rather than directly from your iPod.
Good luck

http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/14605The above link takes you to a programme which checks on the net for matches with yer tunes. Its not 100% reliable but is good none the less.
It checks the actual music for a match so even if you have no tag information, you are half way there.

Don't sweat it - highlight your songs and there's a menu option which will then go to the net and get the titles. I know, I've regularly done it this way and it works. I'm away from the Mac now to be able to tell you exactly which menu item you seek, but it can be done - easily. I figured it out just from looking at the menu items, so I reckon if you hunt around you'll find it too...
