HDX system error

Posted by: BobF on 18 December 2008

I just picked up a HDX today, loaded 15 CD, turned it off (standby then back switch, moved it to another room to play some music, it won't work.

message is:
system services has encountered an error
cannot communicate with audio board.

Any one know of a quick fix?

I guess it goes back to the dealer tomorrow.

This might sound crazy but, take it back to the first room where you had it working and see if it reads...... you could be in a stream of microwave transmissions and this can screw up some electronics ..... I know it sounds nuts but give it a go.

Hi Steve, thanks for the quick response. I had already tried moving it back and it did not cure the proble. Good suggestion as one never knows.

Sorry Bob...... off to the dealer.
do un plug it from the wall and give it a good hour some times it takes a bit of time to get these things to reset.

Thanks Steve - about 20 minutes seemed to do the trick, hope it was a one time glitch. I would not have been able to sleep without a listen.

Cheers

Bob,

I'd definitely contact Naim technical support and let them know what occurred. It may be a one-time thing due to a variety of potential causes like a power surge that you might not have been aware of or something else and might indicate a potential failure.

(Please contact Naim Customer Services - who will direct your enquiry to the relevant department/person he will help you out. He talked me through a couple of options when I was trying to set mine up. Very helpful !!

Hi BobF,

Are you using an XPS with HDX?

If so please check the burndy cable is secured at both ends between XPS and HDX

If you are using the link plug instead, please check it has been securely fitted (turn the power off first before removing/fitting the link plug).

I had the same problem twice.
Just switching the HDX off and On again cured the problem. But I didn't like this cure.

What could be the cause of this problem?
Could it be the plug on the external power supply. I noticed, it's a fairly loose connection. Is this normal?
