It's funny - I bought this a little while ago, having fond memories of it from years ago, and it did nothing for me whatsoever. I played it again the other evening and it seemed so dull I took it off. Really weird. My favourite Japan song is the live version of Nightporter, from On on Canvas.

What a lovely surprise to see this album mentioned here. I still love it.
It is worth getting the boxed issue with the full length version of 'The Art of Parties' and other extra tracks/B sides.
I remember when I was at college and first got into it, a friend was surprised that I liked Japan, as in 1982 I was very much a long haired rocker, and a fan of 70s music, Led Zeppelin, Yes and King Crimson.
I did feel that Japan offered something that I also got from those bands, and a couple of years later it was with great joy I discovered the David Sylvain was working with Robert Fripp from King Crimson.
I would also say that 'Quiet Life' is another excellent album by Japan.

I have it on vinyl and must admit to seeing Japan live at the Liverpool empire some years ago

I have Brilliant Trees by David Sylvian on CD. An enjoyable, atmospheric and original record.
