NAIT5 & FC2

Posted by: woody on 15 June 2003

Hi,

I have a (i.e. one!) FC2 which I am using on my CD5 and NAIT5. I know that on the CD5 it powers the o/p stage and on the NAIT it powers the preamp section, but I've not read much - if anything - on how best to use the FC2 in this kind of configuration. (lots on using it on CD5 only)...

What's the consensus of opinion? Should I use it on both nait and cdp, cdp only or nait only? would it be better to have a second one? (or try a s/h hicap - if it will plug in)

Thanks,

Andrew

I suppose it would be best to power both units. You could try the other options but my guess is you are better off powering both. The hicaps are better by some margin. If you don't need more power a hicap is a very good upgrade. My Nait3r improved a lot when I substituted a flatcap for a hicap.

Good luck

You will get your best results using one FC2 if you use the main section to power the Nait and the secondary section to power the CD5. (That's what I did for quite a while, except I used a CD3.5.)

You will get even better results if you use two FC2s (or Hi-Caps), one each dedicated to the Nait and CD5.

Seth,

It sounds absolutely marvellous, but I - like you, I suspect - have now embarked on the long and winding road to audio nirvana. I love my new sistem but I'm sure it could be better with...

Actually, let's not go there!
