I want to find out what made you go for the DV (if that is the case) over the wee 640s, however....

Sort of looks vaguely familiar, doesn't it. Not surprisingly!

It's not like Naim sales will immediately plummet around the world!
cheers, Martin
Does this mean that all that preamp (and now power amp) agonising took place against a background of powering the kit from a "normal" mains socket? Say it ain't so!
If this is the case, then you have to bear in mind that if you did all the trials again with your spur installed, your conclusions could very easily be entirely different. Certainly when I "did" a spur, any tendency our system had towards grain, harshness, aggression, etc. were eliminated at a stroke. The worse the power situation, the more potentially inviting the sound of gear which is less inherently transparent.
I'm worried now...

I'm listening right now to the Naim classical sampler (from this month's Gramaphone, a rag I don't normally buy) on a completely non-Naim system with superb transparency, and it's quite something else indeed!

With regard to mains, all the preamps were tested before the spur, the poweramps were tested before and after. A level enough playing field surely.
In the interests of consistency, and to un-clog my email, I'm about to post the results.
