Can anyone help me?

What is the best way of getting the glue of the wood of my pair of Linn Isobariks speakers, as the the front grills are falling of. Is there an easy solution to do this.

Thanks

Hi Brian,

I,m confused by your mention of glue with the Isobariks. The front grills are sculpted foam and aren't glued on.

Hi
You're right Syd, the grilles should be held on by some kind of velcro type stuff (mines are anyway).

Hi Brian

I am familiar with your dilemma, having Saras myself and knowing a few people with 'briks.

Common sense says try a narrow paint scraper. Maybe soften up the glue first with some white spirit on a cloth?

Are the foam fronts and tops disintegrating, as they tend to?

If so; they are no longer available as a new item from The Scottish Company. My local Naim dealer's parent company is:-

http://www.falcon-acoustics.co.uk/

They supply virtually everything to do with loudspeakers and may be able to assist with something that will do the job.

Good luck.

Thanks for all your replies.

The velcro has the some sort of glue, which in turn is holds the grills. The grills are not to bad, but the velcro in places has come away from the speaker it’s self. Where it has come away it has left a deposit of dry glue, thick in places.

Somebody suggested nail varnish remover? Any thoughts, has anybody tried it!

Thanks again.

Brian.

A very, very sharp paring chisel and great care.
