Hello!
I just bought my first piece (definately not the last!!!) of Naim equipment, a Nait 5. After comparing with the NAC112/NAP150 combo, I decided to go for the Nait 5, saving some money for a CD upgrade. (I have a Sony 930, please donĀ“t kill me...)
My question is; would you choose the CDX before a CD5 and a FC2 (that would improve the Nait 5 AND the CD5)?
Speakers: B&W CDM1SE with 3,5 meter NACA5 cable.
Greetings from Sweden!

I was fortunate enough to do an A/B comparison of a capped CD5 versus a plain CDX. The CDX won hands down. Now if only I could run a CDX into my Nait 5 rather than my CD 3.5 . . .

Thomas,
I just installed a Nait 5 with my CDM 1 SE's. It's still running in, it doesn't even have 50h of music through it yet.
I have the mains cable question to sort out. I'm using Campaign Audio design Conqueror mains cable into Hifi news distribution block (for French mains plugs). I tried the standard lead last night, and I didn't much care for the results.
I think it might be the phase, I need to do a plug switch to check because I don't want to loose the earth. I also have the Nait plugged in after the CD player and Record player.

Give the Nait a chance - I've recently bought a new amp system (not Naim) and it's still improving, and its been playing almost 24/7 for three weeks and more now - it
really sounds fantastic now, but at first it didn't sound nearly as good.
The fact is that these things need to settle, the components need to break-in and the units need to warm up - 50 hours may seem like a lot but it's nothing - I don't know the Nait 5 (although I have heard it a few times) but I expect it will be the same as most quality amps (and young puppies) in that you will need to house-train it first and introduce it to serious listening sessions over time...

The Nait sounds fine, and I'm expecting it'll come on nicely this weekend. It's just that I know that the mains phase into the amp makes a difference, and 102% of all forum members maintain that the Naim cable is the only one.
