AIO Kameleon remotes

Posted by: Tim Danaher on 26 February 2005

I know some forum members have these --

Anyone have any experience of using them with rechargeable battereies? When I put some newly-charged ones in, the remote acts as if it's just about to run out of power (everything on the facia lights up) then it goes dead. The Batteries work fine in other remotes. They're 900 MAh Uniross -- brand new.

The battery life on this remote is so poor, that I can't envisage being able to use it without rechargeables.

TIA

Tim,
I gave up on the Kameleon after a few months. It was consuming 4 AAAs every two weeks or so and this was just unsustainable. I replaced it with the Mosaic which comes with a rechargeable battery pack and charger. It's also much more flexible.

TomK what model of Mosaic is it? I have only seen one that works on ordinary AA batteries.

Tom --

Very much my own experience. Do you have a link for the Mosaic?

I got mine from Richer Sounds. It seemed like a real bargain at £70 with a RRP at the time of £250. They don't seem to stock the rechargeable version any more and I'd expect it to be very heavy on batteries.

Thanks Tom. Big Grin

Works now.

Just needed to charge and rundown the batteries before they come up to full capacity, apparently. Glad I bought a 1-hour charger.

Tim,
It'll be interesting to see how long you get from a set of rechargeables.
By the way I see the new Kameleons are rechargeable and come with a nice base station.
