early influences

Think back to your childhood. What influenced your musical taste?

My own? Well my brothers are a lot older than me (by 8, 10 and 12 years) and were teenagers during the mid/late sixties so for me it was the Beatles, Rolling Stones, Who, Kinks, Byrds then Pink Floyd, King Crimson, Cream, Hendrix, Led Zep, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple etc. etc.

Yeah, I like rock music!

Also Mantovani, Bert Kampfert, lite jazz and manic evangelical preachers.

This is why I turned out as I am.

The Shadows, Carpenters, Chuck Berry are among my earliest memories of music, along with a wildly OTT recording of the 1812 Overture that always fascinated me as it blew dad's Asak (or Asaka, not sure) skyward when the guns went off - that's Linn cartridges for you wink

Also some Clannad, the Hollies, Rickie Lee Jones and Donald Fagan around in there, too.

There was also a rather embarrassing encounter with something like "Itsy-bitsy Teeny-weeny....." which we don't talk about any more red face

The nice this is, although my tastes have changed and moved on, I still listen to much of the music I did when was very young.

P.S. And very young there was a tape of the Corries when they were fun, and one of Billy Connolly playing his banjo - great fun!
