Delia Derbyshire

Last night, Radio 4 broadcast an excellent one hour documentary about one of the pioneers of electronic music. It's available on BBC iPlayer here:
DeliaIt really makes me wish someone would get their bottom in gear and issue a lavish box set of this stuff (or other recordings by the BBC Radiophonic Workshop, for that matter). As far as I'm aware, this material is only available in dribs and drabs on separate CDs.

thanks for that! Missed it, but look forward to 'listen again' later today. I have some of the BBC Workshop stuff, but I agree, a nice box set would be welcome. If you ever hear such a thing being released, please let us know.

Thanks for heads up, droozilla

Interesting analysis of DD's work; especially how multi-track recordings were made before the advent of multi-track tape machines. Thanks again for the heads up. I wonder when we will get to hear some of those 300 reels of tape?

What a fascinating lady and a genius of her art.

Brilliant programme - Delia Derbyshire was a true genius - probably the finest composer of innovative music ever mentioned on this or any other forum - the BBC Radiophonic Workshop - if you haven't already downloaded the clips on her web site (
here) then what are you waiting for.
I cannot recommend her work highly enough - although I like lots of classical music, no classical composer comes close to mesmerising me with the sheer impact of Delia.
It is very sad that she died so young.
Thanks droodzilla for bringing my attention to this programme.
