Boiler leak sealant

Posted by: Fisbey on 08 April 2009

I have a very small (a drip or two overnight), but persistant 'drip' from a very inaccessible joint on my boiler. I have seen that Fernox make a 'leak sealer' - does anyone have any experience of this actually working?

Many thanks

After replacing my diverter valve in my boiler a few months ago (and subsequently stripping the valve down), I wouldn't like the thought of a sealant product being distributed inside the workings of mine.

Same with car cooling systems.

For me, the only answer would be to solve the joint leakage properly. I think it would cost you less in the long run.

Understand completely - the boiler has been a real pain - the people have been out countless times for various problems - getting a wee bit impatient now....

fernox is a very reputable company and does not produce crap products, so you could try the leak sealer with no detrimental effects to your boiler or heating system whether your system is a combi or y plan. IF HOWEVER IT IS A FAULT CAUSED BY THE REPAIRING ENGINEER of a previous fault FETCH HIM BACK

OK panic over - the people came back and fixed the leak(s) - Took nearly 2 hours....

OK so far.

Many thanks.
