SNAXO tweaking

The handbook contains no clues as to how to tune an active system using the SNAXO controls. Does anyone have a step by step method?

Chris,

Over the years I had Isobariks/NAXO I never found that fiddling the crossover really sorted out any problems, and these things need to be tackled by fixing the installation.

Since I moved to DBL/SNAXO I have never even cracked open the case, and I feel this has been the right decision for me, so far. My system has got better & better, and I think that tweaking the XO would just have made it harder to properly evaluate any changes I've made.

At some point I will probably play around with the pots - I'd quite like to bump up the treble slightly.

Naim UK seem to feel that 90% of installations work fine with the default settings. Where do you think the balance comes between setting the system up & tweaking the SNAXO? Do you think that most active systems would benefit from a little subtle tweaking?

cheers, Martin

Chris,

thanks, that's very helpful.

Just to clarify, are you saying it's mainly useful to compensate for sample variability in the drivers themselves, or to integrate into the room?

cheers, Martin

"Large improvements can be achieved by how you dress the wires in a system, much larger than tweaking a Snaxo."

Chris,

Any tips (other than the ones mentioned in our owner manuals) on arranging wires for best peformance?

"ABSOULTELY NONE."

Different for every situation I'm sure. For example, Din plug centering is all but inaudible when all the gear sits on Mana. On any other stand or surface, it's quite audible.
