iPod Touch/Internet Radio/ BBC 5 live.

I've just bought an iPod Touch. What a seductive piece of technology!

I had absolutely no idea how versatile it is and I'm discovering all sorts of useful little Apps, in particular the option of internet radio.

Although we get DAB coverage at home it is a bit patchy and I'd like to get 5 Live Extra and perhaps other BBC stations through the iPod if that is possible. It would be nice in the car too. Anyone know if this can be done and use a App that works?

Real player, Windows media and Flash are not supported on the pod.

The closest you will get is podcasts, but obviously not much use on Five live.

Other thing are good though such as radio four output, check out the itunes store for more details.

Does internet radio only work through flash/media player etc? I see some apps exist which purport to offer internet radio on the iPod, I was just unsure if any allowed access to BBC.

Well they stream on these players so there is the problem. There are lots of radio stations available just not the Beeb.

I could be wrong Bruce, but I don't think so

I have found an app called Fstream that says it can be done. I'll report back....

...and it works brilliantly. I'll post the link (and the urls page for the beeb stations) when I'm at my PC again.

Yes, it works on Macs, but of course it's a different version from the iPhone/Touch app in the AppStore.

Try the Wunder radio app. No faffing with urls.

Type 5 Live Extra and... there you go.
