WOW! A 5 Year Naim Warranty in the UK
Posted by: Cymbiosis on 24 May 2006
Hello Gentlemen,
FYI I've just received information in the post this morning regarding warranty extension to 5 years here in the UK.
Currntly the warranty is for a two year period on all products, parts and labour.
By filling in and sending back the warranty card enclosed in all boxes from June you'll enjoy a further 3 year's warranty on the parts too!
The warranty extension is retrospective to 1st April 06 as well, so long as you fill in the registration cards or go to the registration section on the website.
The letter also says that all 500 series equipment regardless of when it was purchased, is covered. So, best get registering !!!!!! Warranty registration
Bear in mind this offer is for original owners and hence is not transferable.
I'm sure Adam will post all the details when he get's chance/time.
What great news though!
Best regards,
Peter

Could we benefit the 5 years warranty as well when we purchased the 500 serie in France after April 1st...please?

In Holland you can also get a 5 years warranty.
You only have to fill in an online form, on the Naim distributor site, within 1 month after purchase, and that's it!

This may make buying second hand gear not so appealing if you know that you have 5 years of worry free ownership if you buy new.

Well,...it's a nice bonus, but Naim has got such an outstanding reputation when it comes to reliability,
that I wouldn't worry 1 minute when buying s/h.
I would be happy to skip the warranty for say a 50% price discount

It depends whether the guarantee is portable, would you buy a two year old piece of kit if it still had three years warrenty on it?
Of course you would and I'll bet you would pay a little more for it,

In your rush to post early a little substance wouldn't have gone amiss Peter. For example, who provides the labour in years three to five? The dealer at no cost under pressure from their customers? Naim at some exorbitant rate to cover the 'free' parts? And if a dealer could prove a fault was covered would Naim provide the part free for the customer to fit? Or are we now all banned from going inside the Naim boxes we own right from day one?
Just wondering.

The warranty is a good move.
Naim can do it because the kit tpically doesn't break.
If I bought new Naim kit and it broke inside 5 years, I'd be amazed!

Prowla,
Very suprised rather than amazed would be my opinion on this as Naim is far more reliable than any other elecronics brand I sell. But now and again and over a 5 year period..........
The thing is, in the unlikely event something does go wrong, Naim Service is excellent which is also nice to know!
Regards,
Peter

To get the benefit on 500 series kit already owned and registered does it have to be reregistered?

warranty is NOT transferrable.
5 years warranty for new equipment should'nt be a problem for Naim (i have 10 years warranty on my new Planar25 and it looks really s%&t compared to the Naim gear).
somehow it seems impossible that anything will ever fail...
regards, +bf
(bryston in canada is giving 20 years fro their amps - i've read somewhere that over 80% of the products they have ever made are still under warranty!)

Densen have Lifetime Warranty !!!

Unfortunately, "lifetime" warranty refers to the lifetime of the company, not you or the equipment
Nevertheless, I think 5 years is the absolute minimum acceptable warranty period for a premium brand. Unfortunately, with the move to CD sources and digital amplifier controls, OEM parts availability becomes the real limiting factor.

I am looking at this from another point of view.
Naim is simply not forced to do that to survive on the market, so there is no need for this looking from their perspective I beleive. Although, I do agree that is good feeling to know that your component have lifetime warranty, but is not so realistic to expect that from anyone, nor to overally judge the company according to this.
Just to say that until two years ago Mercedes have had the shortest warranty in the automobile industry...or if you buy Mitsubishi Lancer Evo you don't have warranty for it. I don't understand how is that possible, but it is.

Is the Densen warranty underwritten?
Posted on: 26 May 2006 by packerman
What is lifetime of a Densen?
If it breaks and does not work that would be the end of its useful life so perhaps the warranty would not pay to fix it if it goes wrong and dies? Perhaps a lifetime warranty repairs injuries like poor sound but not no sound at all.

The warranty should be transferable.
Why is it not? (and an answer from naim, please, not guesses or opinion.)

From Densen site:
Lifetime Warranty
The best warranty in the industry
As the only company in the industry, Densen offers a lifetime warranty. This we have always done, though at first we did not advertise the fact, as it was so logical for us; if you want to build the best product, you also offer the best warranty.
The lifetime warranty is for the first owner of a product. People who buy used Densen equipment do not get the warranty, but can have repairs done at the Densen Head Quarter's for a very reasonable price.
The lifetime warranty works as follows:
When purchasing a new Densen product, you must send in the registration card enclosed with all Densen products within 14 days of purchase.
The local warranty that is provided by your local dealer/distributor and varies from country to country comes into force first. After this warranty expires, Densen's lifelong warranty takes over.
While the Densen lifelong warranty is valid, you must communicate directly with the Densen Head Quarters, and for this, we recommend using our e-mail: service@densen.dk
Our staff will decide if the product needs to be shipped to Denmark or if it can be fixed in your home country. In the cases where it must be shipped to Denmark, we recommend using normal surface mail, as this is secure and cheap. The cost of shipping the product to Denmark must be borne by the owner. The repair, spare parts, and return shipment will be paid by Densen.
People who have bought a used Densen product can get Densen to carry out repairs for a fixed price, and pay in advance on the Internet.
We have all spare parts in stock and we will carry out all repairs relatively quickly. In the unlikely event that we do not have a spare part in stock many years after ceasing production of a product, we will offer the owner compensation.
