Atacama Rack

Posted by: Manu on 20 March 2001

Does anyone have tried or seen them.
It's a british company. They have a stackable model (model Europa I think). Steel frame and glass shelves. Price is <US$1000 for a 5 shelves.
Is it B.S. or better than a standard Target?

Thanks

Hello Manu,

I had an Atacama "Europe" rack for about one year.
Just sold it recently.
It's a nice,stable rack with a neutral,slighly warm sound to it.
It's nog any better or worse the Target though.

The Target as well as the Atacama aren't worth the
cash when it comes to optimising the performance
of your equipment. (IMHO)

The price for a Quadraspire rack is money better
spent,to my experience.
It costs a little more but it looks great and
really does make a difference to the sound.
(tried it with my previous Cyrus setup, and it
tightened the low-end and made it easier to follow individual instruments.)

Good luck with your search,

Greetings,
Alco.

Salut Manu!

I saw that you take my suggestion seriously.

In Canada the hardest part when building a good system is to find a decent rack without having to import them.

Maybe you should/could become the offical canadian importer for...well you know! roll eyes

Salut Bernard,

Not shure.
I'm looking for a middle range rack.
For Hi-end I'll go with the Naim.

But I promise, I'll consider it seriously.

Sure, but between middle range (500-1500$ cdn) and the Naim one (more than 5000$ cdn) there is alot of room.
