Re-sealing SBLs

After discovering some separation, I am about to re-seal my SBLs using the standard gaskets. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. The spare gaskets I have do not seem thick enough (even with silicone) to fill the gap between the lower and middle cabinet. In the past I followed the directions in the owners manual to a tee.
