Fishfinger sandwich
Posted by: Chillkram on 18 January 2009
Today I had a fishfinger sandwich for lunch which is something I hadn't had for years and I had forgotten how much I enjoyed them when I was a kid.
What childish or junk type foods do you still enjoy that perhaps you shouldn't?
Anyone like Pot Noodle or Spam?

Cheese & peanut butter sarnies (with added options of crisps) were also a staple of mine as a young-one.
Or the fried cheese sarnie (you spread the outside of the sarnie with butter, not marg, and then fry away).
Ham and cheese 'toast topper' anyone -- now there was a product whose name didn't fit the content on the tin. Dunno what the sauce was - yuk.
Baked beans & olive oil -- that's nouvelle cuisine isn't it!

I still eat Peanut Butter and Jelly sandwiches. They hold me for hours, nuts are good for you and jelly is now thick fruity jam not clear jelly.
Oh yes whole wheat bread, not white Wonder Bread.

Mark,

Best post of 2009!!! I'm still laughing now.
Dunno if scarfie is just a Kiwi word, but I had to look it up. Hope you can at least afford ketchup these days.

My best bet for a sandwich: TLT
Tofu, lettuce and tomato.
Preferably in a corn bread, with just a bit of mayo, some onion and some mustard
. Of course, the tofu is fried.

Never really worked that one out - too much speights tended to destroy memory cells

Memories of a broke scarfie indeed

My equivalent of a fishfinger sandwich would be cinammon on toast...

Salt & Vinegar (or any other flavour) crisp sandwich
Yeah, crisp sandwiches!
I'm off the crips at the moment (fat bastard needs to lose weight) but I've had them at work regularly though with posh cracked black pepper Kettle chips, Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!!!
Oh! yeah and what I'd like to have again is Yorkshire pudding with thick cut orange marmalade my mum made it for us as kids.
Dean..

Chillkram you bring back happy memories of boarding school! What finer way to set you up for the day than with a fishfinger sandwich. Two slices of fresh white bread and four fishfingers neatly laid side by side one another with a light sprinkling of salt and a liberal splash of malt vinegar. The butter running down your chin as it melts from the heat of the fishfingers....you are not one of those heathens who eats cold fishfingers in your sandwich are you?
For those with a more refined palate of course there is always the sausage and marmalade sandwich..........
