Naim is fun !

Really like Naim, especially when building up slowly ... The upgrade path is usually paved and true. It sure is delightful hearing each upgrade reproducing music even better !

There goes your bank balance and savings!

Enjoy the journey.

Get your discs stateside if possible, for best sound quality.

"Now't as queer as Folks", as Granny always said.

I have found that North American cd's seem to be a lot worse in quality than my Euro. CD's, both manufacturing and sound quality, hence I still source a lot of my music from the UK.

Anyone else have an opinion?

Compact Disc - US press' wherever possible, for the same reasons you've stated.

LPs - normally first press' are adequate, wherever they're from.

Indeed! But I do regret not getting into Naim earlier. Could have saved a lot and probably have a NAP500 now ...

And yes, I do prefer US-pressed CDs (when I was still into CDs) over the European ones. Consistently sounds fuller, richer ...

With vinyl, it's a toss-up. European or American can both sound great or bad ...

Many posts on this subject in the forum...a group of us locally have done extensive A/B tests...and US win every time over Euro discs... plus they are so much cheaper!

That's funny, since you're in the UK ... Here in Singapore, US costs a lot more ! Smaller shops try to carry Euro discs more, since the normal consumer only cares about the price and not the pressing. Have to visit the HMV, Tower, or Borders to find the US versions, or the web ...
