Getting UnitiServe rips to iTunes ?
Posted by: Jan-Erik Nordoen on 22 September 2010
Once having ripped my CDs to UnitiServe, is there any way, other than re-ripping in iTunes, if I want to keep my iPod up to date. I want to stay with the Serve and not go the MacBook route for now.
Thanks

Do you mean you can't 'see' the rips on the UnitiServe on your network? If you can, what's stopping you converting them into whatever format you fancy for iTunes using dBpoweramp, foobar, mediamonkey or whatever?

Yes, that's what I meant. Is this simply a setting that I need to do on my network, or is access to the files on the UnitiServe restricted by Naim to prevent copying ?quote:Originally posted by likesmusic:

if you are ripping to the Serve's internal drives I would guess it might be more difficult. But if you move the files to a NAS or external drive there is no reason why you cant throw those into iTunes and therefor onto your iPod.

It would be kind of amazing if the Unitiserve prevented you accessing your own rips and doing what you wanted with them. Can you not see it on your network?

The thing preventing this is that they will be wavs and so when you point itunes at them you will have hundreds of files with no names.
Assuming serve does not generate cue files (i think thats what they are) for the wavs its created.
Thousands of files called track 1 will be really dreary.

In summary - it's doable, but not easily.

After reading the thread my eyes are completely glazed over.... I think I'll stay with ripping a few selected CDs directly into iTunes.
