How many f's in hot

Posted by: DAVOhorn on 13 October 2006

Dear All,

Another f in hot day in Sydney, and spring is only just supposed to have arrived.

37C already.

The bush fires have started already idiots and cigarettes, idiots and burning garden rubbish.

Basically idiots.

NSW has issued a NO FIRES AT ALL POLICY to all house holders.

So we have very hot very dry weather with a shortage of water.

Hopefully the weather report is right and it will be cooler tomorrow with maybe some rain.

AS a pom here in Aus saying that rain is wanted is a turn up for the books as usually in the UK we want sun and warmth.

So here in the southern hemisphere i am getting the warmth and sunshine.

But please 37 C in early spring!!!!!!

regards David

off to buy a fan to keep the flat more comfortable. 10 ft ceilings help but in this a fan is needed to help.

Crumbs that is hot. Were heading into autumn with the nights drawing in, a fair amount of rain and a chill in the morning.

Dear All,

The weather report was right.

It is cooler and overcast today. But as yet no sign of rain.

Durham looks nice in the photo.

Not how it looked last time i visited.

Very cold -4c with snow and ice. The guest house i stayed at was on a very steep hill which was heated so people could get up the hill in winter.

The World Has Gone Mad

Dear All,

Well it is raining here, not a lot but it is cooler and raining.

Reading the newspaper i see that New York's airports have been paprlysed by very heavy snow falls.

Come on IT IS AUTUMN.

So here in aus we have summer in spring and New York has winter in Autumn.

What a strange scenario.

I wonder how much rain we will have?

And if any of it goes into the catchment areas and reservoirs?

And yes i am having a slow day, as i am again in the library using the internet.

Here in the south east of the UK we're getting lots of fat brown & black spiders in the garden. Loads of them them. They look fierce. Not noticed them previous years.

David

I think you probably stayed on Western Hill, one of our most famous streets. Wonderful Victorian town houses.

The weather you described is when the lads from the outlying villages start heading into Durham for a few Shandies wearing only t shirts (have done it myself), the girls with just flimsy backless dresses and kitten heels. Not quite cafe culture.....................

David,

Yes, Saturday was hot but it was dry heat.
I find 32 deg C with high humidity much more uncomfortable. Did you find a place with air conditioning as previously advised?
can get a bit hot

Dear Dave,

Unfortunately no air con. Air con was out of my price range for rentals. Or the only good bit of the property was air con and the rest sucked.

So bought a fan . The flat has 10ft ceilings so is normally cool.

The road In Durham had new houses and was by the Durham Campus just out of town. Not the uni though.

it rained a bit today and is still cool and overcast.
