Flat Hose Pipes?

Posted by: Paul Hutchings on 16 April 2006

Does anyone have one of those flat hose pipes that come in a very small and compact reel?

Any suggestions on good ones? Seems hose pipes cost a little more than I thought so I don't feel quite so sad asking the question!

TIA,
Paul

I think I'm right in saying that you have to roll out all of a flat hose in order to be able to use it. I have a normal round hose, not the cheapest one at the shop, since I hate dealing with kinked hoses (and ropes, string, cables etc. probably come's from rock climbing as a youth.)

I bet no flat hose would ever roll back to the size it was the day it was new. The only flat hoses I had anything to do with were Wright Rain Irrigation flexible connections [for going through gateways and so forth], and horrendously unreliable they were under pressure. You get cracking where the pipe folds along its two flat sides.

We are talking 3 or 4 inch diameter and pressure up to 100 PSI, but everything would running just nicely and then the canvase would blow from a tiny crack. What a hell of a mess, and load of work to relay the whole supply length of ally pipes which would be jigged and loosened by the flapping end. And I as say, it was not easy to role up tidily even when everything are going nicely either - it is hard to get all the water or air out of the pipe for a start...

Normal hose would be more practical am sure.
