Itunes with Iphone as remote stream to NaimUniti

I am able to use Itunes as a media server streaming to my NaimUniti? Or do I have to use Tversity or other such software?

You want to set up the universal plug and play thing a me bob then the music in your itunes library should become available (nothing in itself to do with itunes)

God knows how the iphone comes into it but no doubt something is available

Yep — you need to have the uPnP software on your computer and then the Uniti will see your iTunes files wirelessly.
In fact it will see any music on the computer whether in the iTunes library or not (I found all sorts of music files on mine!) and will play as long as they're not Apple Lossless.
iPhone doesn't come into it at all. There's no software to let you stream from that. Only way would be via Naim's nLink cable (£95) but then the music would be going via the iPhone's analog output.

Hi Garyi
I know I could use Tversity or WMP as a media server the Uniti will pick up, but I wanted to Itunes as I can operate itunes from my iphone as a remote.

Thanks Steve

I don't believe that is possible, however do a search on itunes store for controllers for the products you mention or type in UPNP

Seriously there is 40,000 apps on there one has to be it!

plug player works quite well.

Yes, Plugplayer is what you are looking for. I used it (bought it) but preferred other methods.
If I had a uniti though it would be about the only way.

Just get a Airport Express and plug that in to the Uniti using the digital out on the Express.
That way you don't need any other software than the Remote app on the iPhone.

PlugPlayer is, in this configuration, a UPnP control point, neither a player nor a server - Allegro Media server works quite well, installed on your PC / Mac to serve up compatible files from iTunes. This can then be controlled from PlugPlayer and streamed to the NaimUniti (used as a renderer, not a player).

To recap:

Server -> Player (e.g., NaimUniti)

or

Server -> Control Point (e.g., PlugPlayer on iPod touch / iPhone) -> Renderer (e.g., NaimUniti)

and

(Control Point + Renderer) = Player

Bronco, half the point of having a UNiti is so you dont need any other boxes between your puter and the Naim box.

If it is just a Remote app that has you jazzed, try any number of methods for controlling your computer.
